Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): The Khango Konyak-led NSCN (K) has accused the other group led by Isak Sumi of trying to ‘garner public sympathy and support through misleading and fabricated stories in media’.

It issued a press release on Friday, three days after the NSCN (K) group led by Isak Sumi leveled several accusations at Khango during a press conference.

‘The NSCN/GPRN (K) is constrained to issue this clarification, to make it clear once and for all, that the usage of the NSCN/GPRN (K) nomenclature by a group of self-organised gang stationed at the private residence proclaiming to be mandated by NSCN Yezhabo, is making a mockery of themselves,’ read the press release.

It claimed that nomenclature NSCN/GPRN (K) refers to the government under the leadership of President Lieut. Gen. (Retd.) Khango Konyak. “This clarification is issued for general Naga public consumption and for necessary remedial measures and co-operation thereon,” it added.

The group condemned the labeling of its President as “Money monger”, claiming that he dwells under a thatched house, devoid of basic amenities, while the impeached Ato Kilonser Isak Sumi has acquired a palatial house and other assets.

The group reiterated that the impeachment of the Ato Kilonser was done through a 2/3rd majority of the house and not at the discretion of the President alone, as alleged. It also termed the allegation about his life attempt a “political stunt” to garner public sympathy.

‘Most importantly, the NSCN/GPRN (K) would like to question the credibility of the statement addressed to the Ceasefire Monitoring group (CFMG) by the Convener, WC-NNPG, stating that Isak Sumi will represent the 7 NNPGs in peace talk with the GoI, despite holding no authority to represent the NSCN/GPRN (K), as the said official has been impeached by the NSCN/GPRN (K) government for his unconstitutional activities and for breaching the party discipline.

‘Further, NSCN/GPRN (K) wonders whether the NNPGs co-conveners were taken into confidence by the convener of WC-NNPG while addressing the letter to the CFMG and if the 6 NNPGs consensually agreed to sever ties with the NSCN/GPRN (K). And if it so, then the NSCN/GPRN (K) will not shy away from becoming a separate entity to hold peace talks with the GoI,’ it stated.

The NSCN/GPRN (K) has signed Ceasefire with the GOI, and it will uphold it in letter and spirit. The internal matter will not fracture the relationship with the GoI, nor will it encumber to the process of the ongoing peace talk, it said, adding that it is intact under the leadership of Khango Konyak.

It also assured the Nagas to sincerely work towards concluding talks with the GoI to achieve an honorable and permanent solution to the vexed Naga political issue.
