Nagaland: Government vehicles banned from electioneering purpose

Following the enforcement of model code of conduct for the upcoming general election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023, the Election department has imposed total ban on use of government vehicle for electioneering purpose.

In a letter to the Nagaland Chief Secretary, the additional chief election officer, Ruokuovituo Khezhie, mentioned that minister, advisor, MLA etc. are entitled to use official vehicles only for commuting from their official residence to their office for official work. In this regard, he has requested to direct all the administrative head of departments and head of departments of the government of Nagaland to immediately withdraw all the extra vehicles attached to their respective minister, advisor etc.

It further stated that the ban was imposed to avoid misuse of government vehicles for campaigning/ electioneering during the election period.
