Dimapur, Dec. 27(EMN): The New Year, it can mean a fresh batch of New Year’s resolutions, with different approaches to tackling and sticking to them. We suggest that you start small with realistic and manageable goals. Some tips to help you stick to some of the most common New Year’s resolutions are:

Exercising

1.       Exercising: Eating only vegetables and working out in the gym daily is challenging and often impractical with busy schedules. Instead, you can start by setting aside your exercise clothes at night and begin with short and easy exercises in the morning. 10 minutes on the treadmill every morning, or 10 squats, 10 push-ups, and 10 sit-ups right after getting out of bed. You can slowly progress to walking part of the way to work instead of taking a taxi or car to help you step into a healthier lifestyle.

2.       Reading a book: Reading books is a good goal for all book lovers, anyone can make a resolution to read books but not many sticks to it. So why not read 5 pages of a book every day, this will allow you to develop a reading habit and make you want to read at least a little every day. Something you can check off your To Do list!

Routine

3.       Creating a routine: A perfect daily routine depends on the individual, so here are two steps you can do

i. Identify a few tasks that are necessary like making your bed, brushing your teeth, eating your vitamins, etc.

ii. Then identify what helps you feel good, relaxes, and motivates you like writing two lines in your journal, 5 minutes of meditation, or making a to-do list and then doing it as a part of your daily routine.

But it is best, to be honest with your personal lifestyle to create a reasonable routine you can stick to.

Money

4.       To manage money better: Managing money is not an easy task for everyone and not many keep tabs on it, but you can make a resolution with practical measures to keep a closer eye on your hard-earned money. Delete some unnecessary shopping apps, make it a habit to note down what expenses you’ve made at the end of the day, and set yourself a daily spending budget to help you manage your spending better.

5.       Setting and working towards Goals: As the saying goes, ‘it’s easier said than done’, so as motivated as we might be at the beginning of the year, it’s easy to lose track of our goals. So set a time at the end of each week to review your progress and also set reminders for your resolution activities. Remember, one step forward each day may see you at the end of the finish line if you don’t give up.

Here’s to a healthier, smarter, more determined you and us this New Year!
