Interviews for SVEP-II conducted in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, Oct. 20 (EMN): Interview for the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme Phase II (SVEP II) first cycle for potential entrepreneurs for Ongpangkong North and Kobulong Blocks was successfully conducted on October 19 and 20 at the District Rural Development’s office, Mokokchung.
As reported earlier, SVEP implemented by Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) under Phase-II, was launched by minister of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, in April last. The objective of SVEP was to enable rural poor to set up their enterprises by developing a sustainable model for village entrepreneurship through integrated ICT techniques and tools for training and capacity building, enterprise advisory services and to provide loans from banks/ SHG and federation.
During the two-day event, more than 35 potential entrepreneurs from Ongpangkong North and Kobulong blocks appeared for the interview after CRP-EP initiated a business platform followed by screening conducted by Project Approval Committee (PAC).
Interviewer team included Tiasenba, state programme manager (non-farm); Temsuyapang, block programme manager of SVEP II Ongpangkong and Kubolong blocks; Kekhrielenvo Piele, block programme manager of SVEP II Kohima; Subotola Aier, block programme manager of Kobulong; Rongsenlila, block programme manager of Ongpangkong; Asanaro, area coordinator (non-farm) of livelihoods Ongpangkong North; Tiakumla Jamir, area coordinator (non-farm) of livelihoods Kobulong; and financial inclusion district mission management unit (district coordinator) Mongchen.
According to interviewers, selection was purely based on merit, feasibility of the project and credibility of the candidate to executive the project successfully. They observed that most of the candidates in the first cycles are young and promising candidates with keen interest to venture into start-up and enterprises with new ideas and innovations to fulfill the market requirement and demands.
They also informed that selected candidates would undergo intensive training on business skill and the community enterprises, which would be completed by November.
The loan repayment will be 3 years with an interest rate of 12 percent per annum followed by monitoring and giving hand holding support for 6 months by the CRP-EP with monthly monitoring by the SVEP team.
