Kohima, Sep. 5 (EMN):
As Nagaland Assembly election 2023 draws closer amid an unresolved protracted Naga political issue, a delegation of the state government is said to be visiting Delhi this week to make the “last push” for a solution before the polls.

A highly placed source told Eastern Mirror that the Core Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue will be leaving for Guwahati on Thursday and meet Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convenor of North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), before leaving for the national capital later in the evening to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The source said that an appointment to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been sought from the PMO to discuss the Naga issue.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will lead the delegation consisting Deputy CM Y Patton, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairman TR Zeliang, UDA co-chairman and leader of Naga People’s Front (NPF) legislature party Kuzholuzo Nienu, and few legislators from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), NPF and Independent, according the source.

It may be mentioned that the parliamentary committee on Naga political issue had passed a four-point resolution at its meeting on July 16 this year, requesting the negotiating parties to arrive at a mutually acceptable definition of competencies to resolve the issue at the earliest.
