Nagaland: Dimapur DPDB deliberates on dilapidated condition of NH-36

Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): The Dimapur district planning and development board (DPDB) was held on August 25 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office under the chairmanship of MLA of Dimapur-II AC, Moatoshi Longkumer, who is also the chairman of DPDB, Dimapur.

During the meeting, the board discussed at length about the dilapidated condition of the road along NH-36 from 160/000 km to 166/880 km in Dimapur city and agreed to write to the PWD (NH) department to expedite the construction work to alleviate the sufferings of the public, a DIPR report stated.

“Having concerned about the rising cases of accidents and criminal activities, the board was of the opinion that CCTV cameras have to be installed at various locations in order to monitor and discourage such happenings. It was decided to write to the Commissioner of Police to identify areas required to install CCTV,” the report stated.

Clearance of trees around Assam Rifles camp at “Firing along NH-36” was also discussed and agreed to direct the relevant authorities to clear the trees along NH 36 as they were posting hazard to the public.

During the meeting Sylvan School, Hollohon village, Eralibill, Dimapur and Excellence Academy, Aoyimkum village, were recommended by the board for upgradation.

After thorough deliberations, the following societies including Sharon Self Help Group in Toluvi village, Impact Foundation Society in K Hollohon village, Nagaland Kho Kho Association in Landmark Colony, Archway Society in Purana Bazaar, Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sapha, opposite DMC office, Alumni Association Sakus Mission College in Landmark Colony Dimapur, Touch Life Society in Kher Mahal Churches Colony, All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Pensioners Welfare Society in Burma Camp Power House Colony, Horus Welfare Society in Indisen village, and Ongpang Tantan Welfare Society in Nuton Bosti in Ao Khel were recommended for approval.

However, approval of Elate Welfare Society in Model Colony Purana Bazaar, and Wise Nagaland in Rengna Colony were deferred to future meetings pending submission of verification report and relevant documents from the appropriate authority.

A detailed presentation was given during the meeting by the representatives of waste management, Amos Ezung, and environmentalist, Tonika Miachieo, with a proposal to remove the hazardous eucalyptus trees near Super Market area under DAN and redevelop the area as a mini park with special emphasis on health, the report added.
