Imphal, April 5 (EMN): Manipur High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2022 began across 192 examination centres on Tuesday with English as its first paper.

Altogether, 39,764 candidates including 19,354 female and 20,410 male candidates are appearing in the HSLC Examination 2022.The examination conducted under Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM) will continue till April 26.

BoSEM has also taken all the necessary actions to conduct the examinations free and fair this time. 74 flying squad teams were also arranged. For this, supervising officers, officers in-charge of examination centres, assistant officers in-charge, supervising invigilators and flying squads have been engaged for the smooth conduct of the examination, according to BoSEM authority.

With the beginning of class 10 examinations, Manipur state capital witnessed heavy traffic on almost all the roads during the day.

Meanwhile, one student was expelled from impersonation at Yumnam Huidrom Govt. High School centre on the first day of the exam.

In 2021, the board examinations were conducted through Alternative Assessment/ Evaluation Mechanism due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This year, with the return to normalcy, the government has decided to conduct the examination physically, by observing all SOPs,” Chief Minister N Biren Singh said in a message on the eve of the examination.

 “Do not be depressed by questions that you could not answer. Attempt good replies to those questions, the answer of which you have prepared for. Remember these examinations are merely bridges that are laid before you nto cross.”

Biren Singh also appealed to the parents, teachers and guardians ‘not only to motivate but  guide our students so that they can meet the challenges with confidence…teach them to overcome fear at every step of their lives.’

In a message, Manipur Education minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also urged the students to appear for the examination in a happy and stress-free manner.

It may be mentioned that a total of 38,664 students, including 19,624 male and 19,040 females had appeared in the 2020 examination that were conducted from February 17 to March 5,2020 wherein 65.34% students passed the Manipur HSLC examination. The pass percentage for male candidates (regular) was 70.88% and 66.75% for female candidates (regular).
