Kohima, March 25 (EMN): Kohima Educational Trust (KET) on Friday awarded scholarships to scholars in the presence of the KET trustees and family members of sponsors and parents of the scholars during a programme held at The Heritage in Kohima.

A speech was delivered by Bob Cook, Kohima Museum Curator and KET Trustee, UK, and shared delight to present the scholarship.

“Education is the light that shines from the darkness of misunderstanding, indifference and it’s a great pleasure that we are all here to present the awards,” Cook said.

He relayed how the scholarship is impacting the life of the students and particularly cited a recent incident how a scholar met him in one airport and acknowledged him and the trustee for the opportunity.

Delivering the welcome address, former chairman of Kohima Education Society, Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie, informed that the KET/ KES scholarship first started in 2007 with three scholars. He added that since its inception till 2022, it had awarded scholarship to 1600 scholars approximately and the ratio of male and female stands at 60:40.

In 2022, it has shortlisted 355 scholars for the KET scholarship.

It informed that the scholarships are awarded to scholars for three years once selected from class 8 (Class 8, 9 and 10 consecutively).

KET scholar, M Ethungbeni Ngullie from Modern College, whose scholarship is being sponsored by (Retd) Maj. Paul Burton in the name of Arthur Eagle, delivered a word of acknowledgement on behalf of scholarship recipients.
