Nagaland Governor, Chief Minister mourn demise of former minister Dr. Kakheto
Dimapur, Feb. 26 (EMN): Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have expressed grief over the demise of former minister Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi in Dimapur on Saturday.
The governor wrote in his condolence message that Zhimomi was the first Naga radiologist and served the people of Nagaland in various capacities in public life, including as member of Political Affairs Committee.
“In his death, the state has lost a dedicated and sincere public leader,” read the message. “His relentless and selfless services towards the people of Nagaland in general and Western Sumis in particular will be remembered for years to come.”
“I on behalf of the people of Nagaland and on my own behalf convey our heartfelt condolences. I also pray to God to give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this tragic loss and grant them peace and solace at this hour of pain,” it added.
Rio described Zhimomi as a dear friend and a colleague, who served the government of Nagaland during the Congress regime from 1993 to 1998 and represented Ghaspani I and 11 assembly constituencies. After his retirement from politics, he also served as the president of Western Sumi Hoho, Dimapur, he added.
“He was an upright leader, who was sincere and had genuine concerns for the welfare of society, especially those belonging to the marginalised section. Indeed his demise is a great loss to the Sumi community in particular and the Naga people in general and the vacuum left by him will be difficult to fill. Though he is no longer with us, his selfless deeds will always be remembered and the legacy he leaves behind will be honoured,” read the condolence message.
“In this hour of sorrow, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. It is my humble prayer that Almighty God will give them strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” it added.
