Nagaland records 31 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-rise of 31 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the tally to 31,441 and active caseload to 277.
The state’s cumulative recoveries rose to 29,480 following recuperation of 35 more patients in the last 24 hours, while the death toll increased to 656 after two patients succumbed to the disease.
According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 25 positive cases were reported in Dimapur, two each in Kohima and Phek, and one each in Mokokchung and Kiphire.
Of the 35 new recoveries, 22 were reported in Dimapur, six in Phek, four in Kohima, two in Mokokchung, and one in Kiphire.
Nagaland currently has 277 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 207 are asymptomatic, 51 mild, seven moderate on oxygen, seven severe on oxygen, one in ICU without ventilator, and four in ICU on ventilator.
In regard to district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Dimapur has the highest number with 161 active infections, followed by Kohima with 52, 31 in Mokokchung, nine in Tuensang, eight in Phek, five in Wokha, four each in Kiphire, and Mon, two in Longleng, and one in Peren, while Zunheboto is currently Covid-free.
19740 fresh cases in India
India reported 19,740 fresh Covid-19 infections on Saturday, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to 3,39,35,309, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
It said the death toll climbed to 4,50,375 with 248 more fatalities.
Meanwhile, the number of active cases declined to 2,36,643 with the recovery of 23,070 patients in the last 24 hours, while the total number of recoveries rose to 3,32,48,291.
It stated that with the administration of 79,12,202 vaccine doses, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage crossed 94 crore (93,99,15,323).
