DC Kohima notifies on ‘no parking zone’

Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): The deputy commissioner and RTA chairman, Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie has notified the stretch from New NST to Khuochiezhie (local ground) North Gate via Razhu Point as ‘no parking zone’ with effect from October 1.

A DIPR report stated that alternate parking space has been arranged at the City Centre site (Old MLA hostel) and Khuochiezie North Gallery area. Public are requested to adhere to the following traffic rules.

It stated that previous traffic permits allocated within the notified ‘No Parking’ area would stand nullified. Time permitted for loading and unloading of goods has been set from 8 pm to 6 am, while it has restricted street parking from 6 am to 8 pm.

The order has also prohibited parking outside DC’s office entrance, Commissioner’s office entrance and SBI bank entrance to enable smooth flow of traffic. It added that designated locations for pick up and dropping points would be indicated on the road.

Entry for City Centre parking would be at MLA junction and exit towards DC’s office, while the entry and exit for Khuochiezie parking would be at North Gate.

It further stated that parking sites would have respective rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, the DC informed that parking sites at City Centre, Khuochiezhie, and from Post office Y-junction to Congress Bhavan would be jointly managed by Kohima Smart City Limited and Kohima Village Youth Organisation as per plans and costing presented to RTA dated October 9, 2020.

He has also directed the management authorities to provide adequate signage and perform duty with diligence. The notification was issued in the larger interest of citizens and as discussed in the special meeting with RTA and other stakeholders held on September 3.
