Kohima, Aug. 3 (EMN): Responding to the call of NSCN (IM) for closure of shops and business establishments in all Naga-inhabited areas from August 12 midnight to 12 noon on August 3, shutters in Kohima were down on Tuesday during the said hours.

The group had issued a statement on August 1, appealing to the Naga people, public and business establishments to show solidarity to its call which was made to protest the government of India’s “silence” on the Framework Agreement (FA) which was signed on August 3 2015.

Other than medical clinics, all business establishments were seen closed, though vehicular and pedestrian movements were not affected.

However, the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) had on August 2 directed the trade bodies in all the districts to carry out business activities as usual, stating that it had not received ‘any letter or intimation or request’ about shutdown of business establishments in the entire state of Nagaland.

Meanwhile, sources from Zunheboto and Phek Chamber of Commerce and Industry informed that businesses were open as usual and not affected by the call made by the NSCN (IM).
