Dimapur, Jan. 21 (EMN): Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles handed over a wheelchair to a 110 year-old man residing along remote border village of Wangti in Mon district on January 19 in the presence of village authorities.
A defence release stated that a medical camp was also organised during the programme to provide medical support and assistance to the villagers especially the old, handicapped, orphaned people and the women who are unable to go to the hospitals. It stated that 56 villagers have benefitted from the health camp. It added that besides providing free medicines, security forces conducted a lecture to educate the people on the importance of timely vaccination, personal hygiene and sanitation.
Report stated that the village authority has expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their noble gesture towards improvement of living standard of the people in remote areas.
