PHED minister inaugurates Nikhekhu village gate
Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): Commemorating the 100 year anniversary of Nikhekhu village in Western Sümi area, PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated a village gate (Aphu Khagho) on Dec. 12.
Delivering a short speech at the inaugural function, Jacob reminded the toils and hardship undertaken by the pioneers to establish a village. He also called upon the people to honour the elders, which is one of the revered cultural values of the forefathers.
Stating that attaining 100 years is a sign of maturity, Jacob urged the residents to live accordingly and wished more success in the days to come, according to an update from the village on Sunday.
It mentioned that Nikhekhu village was founded by Nikhehu Zhimomi in 1920 after British permit was issued by Dr. JH Hutton CIE-ICS 1918-1935.
It also stated that Nikhekhu village gate was donated by the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and in-laws of Khukihe Ghunakha Yeputhomi in commemoration of 100 years of Nikhekhu village.
