Kohima, Nov. 26 (EMN): A two-lane bridge over Sanuorü River, leading to the State’s Secretariat Plaza, is all set to open for traffic on November 30, a day ahead of the 58th Statehood Day celebration.
Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, who is also the minister in-charge of Public Works Department (R&B) will open route. A dedicatory service for ‘temporary’ opening of the bridge is being scheduled on Monday morning.
On Thursday, painting works of railings along the bridge were underway. Though the road is yet to open for vehicles, people have already started taking the bridge to cross the river.
‘Understanding the immense problem faced by the public and in view of the Statehood Day, we wanted to let traffic flow in this two-lane,’ an official told Eastern Mirror.
The source added that it is just a temporary opening as the actual inauguration will be held only after the other two-lane road is completed.
As for the sub-way, it will still be open for movement even after the opening of two-lane bridge.
