Sumi students in Dimapur to celebrate Golden Jubilee on Dec. 5

Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has announced that it will celebrate its golden jubilee on the theme “Defining the past and reimagining the future” on December 5, 2020 with Advisor of Power department Tovihoto Aye as a chief guest.
The DSSU made the announcement at a press conference held on November 14 at its office in Dimapur.
Highlighting the activities of DSSU, the convenor of planning committee, Bohoi K Yeptho, informed that the union, which has 30 units, was planning to celebrate the golden jubilee in a grand manner but has to adhere to government’s SOP that allows only 100 people gathering due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yeptho said that in order to follow the SOP, they have decided to invite only few delegates from the 30 units of DSSU and have chosen 26 members for finance committee, who will responsible for financial matters of the celebration.
The convenor said that during the span of 50 years, DSSU has taken many initiatives and actions for the welfare and betterment of the student community and produced many leaders in the society.
DSSU golden jubilee programme co-convenor, Y Ahoi Yepthomi informed that the event will be held at Dimapur Sumi Baptish Church at 10 am.
Yepthomi further said that the chief guest will unveil the DSSU golden jubilee monolith on the occasion and Executive secretary of Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakuku (WSBAK), Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema will dedicate the souvenir.
The president of DSSU, Kahito Chishi, also informed that Covid-19 SOPs will be strictly followed during the event and they will provide mask and hand sanitisers to all the invitees and delegates.
