Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has once again claimed that the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) is not implementing the 25% job reservation “in letter and in spirit”.

In a letter addressed to the chief minister, the federation stated that the government had earlier issued a notification decreeing ‘if no candidate is available from a particular backward tribe whose turn has come on the roster, the benefit may be extended to the next backward tribe as indicated in the relevant roster’.

However, it stated, there are “many instances where the six backward tribes of eastern Nagaland in the roster point were denied the benefit”. Citing RTI replies from the NPSC, the federation stated that it has detected “many anomalies” in the combined technical services.

‘It has also come to the knowledge of the federation that the commission has denied many technical posts reserved for the six backward tribes of eastern Nagaland and to the minimum calculation, the eastern Nagas were denied 60 combined technical services posts and we demand for the compensation of those denied posts,’ the letter read.

Similarly, it stated, the federation has detected “some irregularities” in combine educational services.

“…to the minimum calculation, 30 posts in combined educational services were denied/manipulated and we demand for the compensation of those denied posts. It is also to be noted that the federation has detected some anomalies even in the NCS/NPS/NSS and allied services examination and found out that there are some posts which were denied to the candidate of eastern Nagaland by the authority concerned and for that matter, the federation demand for the denied posts,” it stated.

The federation went on to state that “the resigned post from BT quota of six backward tribes of eastern Nagaland” should be permanently reserved for the particular tribe.

In order to maintain transparency in selection of candidates, it stated, the NPSC should publish in local dallies/public domain the marks obtained in the written examination as well as viva voce.

Also, the federation demanded reconsideration of the qualification criteria of the NPSC chairman and members.

“…the federation would like to demand for reconsideration of the post-graduate degree holder to graduate degree holder particularly for the six backward tribes of eastern Nagaland. The federation placed this demand before your esteemed authority, as you are well aware of the poor condition of the eastern Nagas in all aspects.” It stated.
