Dimapur, Sep. 29 (EMN): Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Resource and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, on Tuesday launched the first issue of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Spectrum Newsletter at SDG hall of the Planning and Coordination department, Kohima.
Launching the newsletter, Kronu expressed optimism that the SDG 17 goals would reach the grassroots in the state through the spectrum newsletter. He also stated that the 17 goals would be published quarterly, a DIPR report stated.
The minister stated that he had apprised the chief minister for inclusion on a wider approach of SDG in the upcoming document of vision 2030. He was hopeful that by focusing on SDG, the state would be leaving a rich legacy for the future generation in all aspects.
In his welcome address, the additional development commissioner mentioned that the SDG spectrum newsletters would be released to stakeholders at the village-level and also in every department in the state. He also informed that it would be distributed to the different colleges in the state so as to share the awareness of SDG, which has been set by the UNO.
The additional chief secretary and development commissioner, J Alam, stated that SDGs or global goals are a collection of 17 interlinked goals which was finalised by the UN in 2015. For the proper implementation of SDG in Nagaland with the help of UNDP, he informed that the SDG coordination centre was set up. He further said that the newsletter would highlight the functions of SDG.
A power point presentation on the functions of SDG in the state was given by DDC, Augustine M Yanthan.
The 17 SDGs included (1) No poverty, (2) Zero hunger, (3) Good health and well-being, (4) Quality education, (5) Gender equality, (6) Clean water and sanitation, (7) Affordable and clean energy, (8) Decent work and economic growth, (9) Industry, innovation and infrastructure, (10) Reducing inequality, (11) Sustainable cities and communities, (12) Responsible consumption and production, (13) Climate action, (14) Life below water, (15) Life on land, (16) Peace, justice, and strong institutions, (17) Partnerships for the goals.
