Two major fire incidents averted

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Timely intervention from the Fire and Emergency Services averted two major fire incidents which broke out at Chümoukedima in Dimapur district and Kiphire on May 8.

A report from the Fire and Emergency Services stated that six kutcha houses were completely razed to the ground in a fire which broke out at VV Stone Crusher, near Naga cemetery at Chümoukedima at around 11 pm on May 8. It added that property worth INR six lakh was damaged, while items worth INR three lakh could be saved.

It stated that the timely intervention of fire personnel managed to put the fire under control and prevented from further spreading to adjoining areas. The cause of fire was suspected to have started from electric short circuit. No casualty was reported, the report added.

In a similar incident, jungle fire destroyed an approximate 150×150 square metre of forest area at hydro power station at Kiphire on May 8.

It stated that a quick response team of Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and managed to put fire under control and prevented from further spreading to adjoining areas.

The cause of fire was unknown and no casualty was reported.
