[dropcap]A[/dropcap]long with the rest of the country, various parts of Nagaland celebrated the 66th Indian Republic Day today. The Directorate of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Nagaland organised showering of confetti by the Indian Air Force as a mark of respect on the occasion of Republic Day at the Nagaland Secretariat Plaza, Kohima.
The MI-17 helicopter was from 110 Helicopter Unit (Vanguards) with Squadron Leader, Irfan W.K. Jarial as Captain, Co Pilot Flying Officer, P.S. Uppal, Flight Engineer Flight Lieutenant, Sidhaart, Flight Gunner Surgeon Subodh and Liaison Officer, Flight Lieutenant P. Tomar.
Meanwhile, the Home Department informed the general public that Republic day exhibition-cum-sale stalls at Secretariat Plaza, Kohima, will remain open till January 27 for the benefit of the general public.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, machineries locally made fruit juice are available in the stalls put up by various departments as part of Republic Day Celebration 2015.

Along with the rest of the country, Dimapur district celebrated the 66th Republic Day at
Dimapur District Sports Complex with Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Wezope Kenye gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
The chief guest unfurled the National tri-colour, inspected the parade contingents and delivered his speech. The Deputy Commissioner also took the salute from the participating contingents which were led by Parade Commander Vikato Thonger, Asst Commandant, 11th NAP (IR) Bn, 2nd Parade Commander Neibulie Metha, Reserve Inspector, DEF Dimapur and Parade BHM Havildar Tokugha Achumi of DEF Dimapur.
Marking the celebration, the chief guest also gave away Dimapur District Citation Award 2014 for best Decoration to DABA, DRDA, DMC and Business Association of Nagas and for outstanding performance and contribution during Dimapur Night Carnival at Akihito and Katrina Rude, Proprietor of The Garden, Ajano and Lawence, Proprietor of Nagaland Printing Solution and Ato Y. Achumi.
The chief guest later inspected the exhibition stalls that were put on display by various departments, Self Help Groups and other establishments.
Other highlights of the programme included special number by Katoshe and friends, DABA youth ministry, Dog show by 22nd Army Dog Unit and Cultural show by Chakhesang cultural troupe, Naga United Village, Ayiko Cultural troupe, Pimla village, Diphupar Lotha cultural troupe and Mech Kachari cultural troupe, Dimapur.
Tuensang:
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at parade ground Tuensang with Parliamentary Secretary for School Education, Yitachu as the chief guest.
The day started with flag hoisting of National flags in all the government, private buildings and business establishments.
The parade consisted of 12 contingents’ including a band combined of NAP and Hauhyang Chuba band. The contingents included: DEF Tsg, 3rd BN NAP, VG Tsg village, VG Hakchang Village, Ex- Servicemen, 2nd Platoon NCC, Sao Chang college, 1st JD Troop GHSS Tsg, NCC 17th Alpha JD troop Loyem Memorial High School, 3rd NAP High School Bharat Scouts&
Guides, Samaritan Open troop and St. John’s School. DIG NAP reviewed the contingents.
Mokokchung:
In Mokokchung the celebration began by hoisting National Flag in all government/semi government/educational institutions at 6 a.m. in the morning.
The main function was held at Imkongmeren Sports complex where Minister for Power, C. Kipili Sangtam unfurled the National Tri-color as the chief guest and addressed the people.
Earlier on the occasion, Officers and staff of Assistant General Manager, Regional Office (SBI) Mokokchung visited Dr. Imkongmeren Memorial District Hospital, T.B Ward and District Jail and distributed sweets and other food items to the patients and inmates with Republic greetings.
Wokha:
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at local ground Wokha, with Minister for Forest, Environment & Wildlife, Nagaland, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering the chief guest said that peace is a pre-requisite for progress in any society, by and large, the law and order situation in the State of Nagaland remain peaceful. There were incidents of violence and tension along the inter-State border with Assam, particularly in Ralan area of Wokha district. Timely intervention by the district administration and police in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) and meetings between the Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries and the Commissioners of the two States helped further escalation of tension.
Highlights of the function included presentation of folk song by Wokha Village C Khel women cultural club, Phiro cultural club and dance by Moses & Jackline. Altogether seven parade contingents took part in theMarch past. Earlier feeding of Jail Inmates by GM, DIC, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital by DPO (Land Resources), Mhondamo memorial Hospital by ADS and 17th Assam Rifles Hospital by DEO (Education).
Later the chief guest inaugurated the stalls put up by various departments and Self Help Groups.
Peren:
Along with the rest of the country Peren District celebrated 66th Republic Day on 26th Jan. 2015 at New D.C Complex Peren with Nukluktoshi, Minister for Soil, National Highway & Mechanical Engineering as the chief guest. The chief guest took salute from 5 (five) parade contingents which included D.E.F Peren, 9th I.R.B, Bass Band, 18th Assam Rifles, Sainik School Punglwa, NCC G.H.S.S Peren. Highlights of the programme included special number from Albert N. Hau & friends, cultural dance was presented by J.N.V Peren.
Mon:
The people of Mon celebrated the 66th Indian Republic Day with Parliamentary Secretary, Transport and Information & Public Relations, Nagaland, P. Paiwang Konyak as the Chief Guest on 26th January 2015 at Local Football Ground, Mon.
Earlier, the chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from 7 (seven) contingents comprised of the District Executive Force, 6th NAP, Village Guards, 1st Girls NCC Battalion, The Ex-servicemen, Government Higher Secondary School, Mon and the 6th NAP Band Platoon, Tizit.
The highlights of the day long program were Cultural Dance by the Shantham & Walo Cultural Society (female) and Pangpon Male Cultural Society, Tug of War; Lady Government Employees Vs KNSK, Arms Display by 33rd Assam Rifles.
Phek:
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at Phek local ground with Speaker Nagaland, Chotisu Sazo was the chief guest who unfurled the national flag received Rashtriya salute and inspected the 11 (eleven) parade contingents and delivered the Republic Day speech.
Other programme highlights of the occasion included folk songs presented by woman cultural troupe, New colony, Phek Town and Vekutalu & Thukunulu and folk dance by Mission compound cultural troupe, Phek town and Phek village youth organisation, Phek village and tug of war between Dobashis and GBs & ward officials was played.
Zunheboto:
Along with the rest of the nation Zunheboto district celebrated the 66th Republic day with Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto Temsu LongkumerNCS as the chief guest at Zunheboto public ground.
On the occasion, the chief guest greeted the people saying that the essence of our republic is expressed democratically through the will of our people. Zunheboto chamber of commerce visited Civil Hospital and Zunheboto Town Youth Organization visited Sub Jail.
Kiphire:
Joining with the rest of the country and the State, Kiphire district celebrates 66th Indian Republic day at public ground. A. Chumremo Odyuo, Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire as the Chief Guest unfurled the National Tri-colour and delivered the Republic day speech.
Other highlight of the programme includes presentation of folk dance from Jena Singret women folk and Sumi Totomi women folk, special number by Tsaeila and JNV School.
Longleng:
The Republic Day was celebrated at Longleng with the Deputy Commissioner Longleng district, Nikashe Sema as the chief guest. There were 7 contingents who took part in the march past namely DEF, 2nd NAP, Village Guard Longleng, GHSS Longleng, St. Joseph’s school, Good Shepherd school and Phom Lelpong school that was led by the parade commander Aren Ao, Inspector 2nd NAP. The occasion was marked by an exhibition by Agri Techo Marketing Agency. Other highlights of the programme included Tug-of-war by DB/GB versus Officers and an exhibition football match between Veteran team versus Longleng district team.
Jakhama:
Along with the rest of the country Jakhama sub-division also observed 66th Republic Day celebration by hosting National tri colour flag in all Government Institutions.
Tening:
The 66th Indian Republic Day was celebrated at ADC premises Tening sub-division. ADC Tening, Thsuvisie Phoji unfurled the National Flag and took salute where National Anthem was sung by Baptist High School students Tening town. The ADC read out the Republic Day speech. All the head of office, GBs, DBs, public leaders and general public attended the function.
Pfutsero:
Along with the rest of the Country, Pfütsero ADC Headquarter celebrated the 66thRepublic Day Celebration with ADC Pfütsero, T. Nchumbemo Odyuo as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest unfurled the National flag, took salute from the parade contingents and delivered the Republic Day speech. The parade contingents were DEF Pfütsero, NCC Nazareth School, Bharat Scouts and Guides, TMT School and Christian Mission High School. Highlights of the function included National Anthem by Baptist Theological College, solo dance by Sharmila, special song by TMT School and sweets distribution. The celebration was attended by all government officials, NGO leaders, Public leaders of Pfütsero Town, students and general Public.
Chozuba:
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at Chozuba Sub-Division at ADC Office Complex. ADC, Polan John unfurled the National Flag and took the salute while the National Anthem was sung and delivered the Republic day Speech. All the Heads of the Departments and staffs and the GB’s, Area Public Leaders attended the function.
Bhandari:
Along with rest of the country, Bhandari town celebrated the 66th Republic Day celebration at local ground with ADC Bhandari, Orengthung Lotha as the chief guest. Lotha unfurled the national flag followed by national anthem. The chief guest read out the Republic Day speech and received the salute from parade contingents consisting of 7th NAP, Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Government Hr. Sec. School and 7th NAP Unit School. A special Adivasi cultural folk song was presented by Nagaland Seed Farm, Merapani.
The programme was attended by EAC, Dy. Commandant 7th NAP and all ranks, SDPO, all HODs, public leaders and citizens of Bhandari.
Thonoknyu:
Along with the rest of the country Thonoknyu sub-division also celebrated the 66th Republic Day on 26th January 2015 at SDO (C) complex Thonoknyu.
SDO (C) Shaying Shio unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the 3rd NAP Thonoknyu. He also read out the Republic Day speech and conveyed Happy Republic to the gathering. All head of offices, government officials, public leaders, DBs, GBs, Adhoc town committee Thonoknyu attended the programme.
Pungro:
Republic Day was celebrated at ADC office complex Pungro on 26th January 2015. EAC Pungro, Chompenthung Ezung unfurled the National Flag and took salute and delivered the Republic Day speech. All head of offices, public leaders, NGOs and GBs attended the function.
Meluri:
Meluri sub-division celebrated the 66th Republic Day at the public ground, Meluri with ADC Meluri, John Tsülise Sangtam as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest unfurled the National flag and took salute from seven parade contingents and delivered the Republic Day message. The parade contingents included N.A.P & DEF, V.G. Meluri sector, V.G. Lephory sector, V.G. Phokhungri sector, V.G. Phor sector, NCC, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri.
The occasion was marked by a beautiful piece presented by Village Guards Pipper Band, Meluri sector and a folk dance by V.G. Phor sector. The Chief Guest also visited the exhibition stall set up by Assam Rifles.
Noklak:
The 66th Republic Day was held at public ground Noklak on 26th January 2015 with ADC Noklak, Janithung as the Chief Guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took salute from 4 contingents comprises of 3rd NAP, Aniaso VG, Kingniu VG and the students of Government High School Thang village.
Tizit:
The 66th Republic Day celebrated was held at Tizit at local ground Tizit with ADC Tizit, Renabomo Odyuo as the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and read out the Republic Day speech. The National Anthem was sung by Holy Trinity School Tizit.
The chief guest took salute from 6 contingents, which included 6th NAP Tizit, VG Zangkhan village, St. Francis School, NCC GHSS, 6th NAP Unit School and Holy Trinity School. Cultural items presented by Monyin Union and Tobu Union Tizit town.
Pughoboto:
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at Public Ground Pughoboto Sub Division on 26th January with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pughoboto, Nokchasashi as the Chief Guest at the ceremonial parade. He unfurled the National Flag and took the salute and read out the Republic Day speech.
Other highlights included special number by Miss Topeni Shohe, Naga Orpheus 2014, folk dance by Lazami village and Folk song by Pughoboto Women Group. The Republic Day was also marked by Tug of War and Volleyball exhibition matches.
Aboi:
The 66th Indian Republic Day 2015 was observed at Aboi ADC headquarter with ADC Aboi, Wasu Katiry (NCS) as the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the parade contingents and delivered the Republic Day speech.
Mangkolemba:
Along with the rest of the country, Mangkolemba town under Mokokchung District also celebrated the 66th Republic Day with ADC Mangkolemba, Limawapang Jamir as the chief guest at the public ground.
The chief guest unfurled the National flag and took salute and delivered the Republic Day speech. A tug of war was played between Mangkolemba Adhoc Town Council and the Dobashi’s followed by a friendly volleyball match between the Christian Youth Department and Sporting Club, Mangkolemba.
Chen:
The 66th Republic Day was observed at Chen Town with SDO (C) Chen as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag, and took salute from the Village Guard contingent. The programme was attended by government officials, public leaders, areas GBs and general public of the area.
Aghunato:
Aghunato Town observed 66th Anniversary Republic Day on 26th January 2015 which was attended by head of offices, GBs, leaders and general public.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, ADC Aghunato Orenthung Ezung stated that peace is a prerequisite for progress in any society.
Earlier, the chief guest unfurled the tri-colour National Flag and took salute the march pass presented by 8th NAP D-Coy. The programme was compared by Inato PGT and Miss Tolivi Asst. Teacher.
Longkhim:
Republic day was observed at Longkhim where ADC, Yongchingkumla unfurled the National flag and took salute. All Heads of Offices, staffs, GBs, DBs and the general public attended the function.
Satakha:
Along with the rest of the nation Satakha celebrated the 66th Republicday with ADC Satakha, Athrila S. as the chief guest. On arrival the chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the parade contingents and read out the Republic Day speech.
The entertainment programme included, traditional fashion parade by SRSU, special number by Hoshepu K Zimo and cultural display (women) by Akhel and Admin hill, Satakha. The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls.
Seyochung:
The Republic Day was celebrated at Seyochung ADC headquarter with ADC Mono Khaiam as the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took salute from VG Yangzitong village A & B. National Anthem was sung by St. Mary High School Seyochung. All heads of government servants, GBs, public leaders attended the function.
Tobu:
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at Tobu Headquarter with ADC Tobu, Akhup Thangsing as the Chief Guest. He unfurled the National flag, read out the Republic day speech and took salute from 7 (seven) parade contingents.
At Maknyakshu town the National flag was unfurled by EAC Tobu Temsuchuba Jamir and at Mopong town the National flag was unfurled by EAC Mopong Yanithung Ngullie.
Tseminyu:
Tseminyu headquarter celebrated the 66th Republic Day along with the rest of the state with ADC Tseminyu, Rikhweno M. Meratsu as the Chief guest who unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the parade contingents and read out the Republic Day speech.
The celebration had three parade contingents comprising 4th NAP, DEF Kohima, Government Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu led by Parade Commander ABSI, Nthonga Rengma. Students from AG school, Baptist
Higher Secondary School and Don Bosco School sang the National Anthem.
Zisumyu Women Group and Tseminyu Town Women group presented folk songs. Volley ball exhibition matches were played between Rengma Students Union and male Government Employee, Rengma Mothers Association and ladies Government Employee, Indian Red Cross Society Tseminyu branch visited hospitals in and around Tseminyu Headquarter.
Shamator:
National Flags were hoisted in various government offices, educational institutions and all commercial buildings. Chief Guest ADC M. Shayung Phom NCS unfurled the National Flag and delivered the Republic Day speech followed by march past and patriotic song by M. Kumrila and cultural display by Thovun and Lumsoberu cultural Troup. Volleyball and Football exhibition matches were played between NGOs & Government Servants. The programme was chaired by K. Asang.
Changtongya:
SDO (C) M.S. Thangpong as the chief guest unfurled the National Flag which was followed by the presentation of National Anthem by the students of Oriental School, Chantongya Town.
The chief guest took salute from parade contingent of DEF police Chantongya and read the speech of Republic Day. The occasion was attended by all head of offices, government servants, NGO leaders and Town GBs.
