66074 lac received for centrally sponsored schemes

Kohima, Sep. 20 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday said that Nagaland had received funds totalling to INR 66074.65 lac for centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) during 2018-19.

He replied to an un-starred question raised by opposition MLA Chotisuh Sazo regarding the amount of funds received under CSS. He said that the receipts under the CSS during 2018-19 (till date) were relief for natural calamities, at INR 6560 lac. The CSS according to departments: Civil Supplies INR 400 lac; Planning Machinery INR 2157.20 lac; Civil police  INR 585.10 lac; School Education  INR 3766.31 lac; Higher Education – 540.00 lac; Medical INR 9606.76 lac; Urban Development INR 2248.49 lac; Rural Development INR 8112.30 lac; Social Welfare  INR 7593.03 lac; Agriculture INR 6655.95 lac; Animal Husbandry & Development INR 75.65 lac; Forest INR 1396.22 lac; Road & Bridges 7480.50 lac; Irrigation & Flood Control 1605.24 lac; Water Supply 2236.20 lac; Horticulture 1000.00 lac; Land Resources Development 2310.00 lac; and Development of Under Developed Areas with 1745.00 lac.

Nagaland money lenders act 2005

Neiphiu Rio, in charge of Finance, said that the government was implementing the Nagaland Money Lenders Act of 2005 in response to MLA Chotisuh Sazo in an un-starred question regarding the implementing of the act.

Four individuals have registered in Kohima district for money lenders license namely Rohit Limbu, Lhuvesayi Lohe, Daniel Seb, and Mughavi Chishi. However, the licenses have expired and no application for renewal has been received so far.

In response to whether the government was taking any measure to penalize any society or individual who are lending money without license, Rio stated in a written reply that the registrars have given publicity in the media warning against illegal money lenders.

100 lac allotted for Jerusalem trip

The chief minister, responding to Sazo, disclosed that a total of INR 100 lac was allotted for “Parliamentary Affairs for Parliamentary study tour/ visit to Jerusalem by NGOs (Reverends and Pastors) INR 100 lakhs.”

The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had announced the introduction of a new programme, ‘Holy Land tours and pilgrimages,’ during the budget session on March 23 this year.

39, 790 lac allotted to departments for civil work 

The detailed report of the amount that was earmarked for each of the departments for capital or civil work for the year 2018-19 was also made available. It totalled to INR 39, 790 lac. The chief minister furnished that a total of 39, 790 lac were allocated for capital or civil work for the year 2018-19.

Replying to opposition legislator Chotisuh Sazo, he furnished the details in an annexure, the amount earmarked for each of the department for capital or civil work for the year 2018-19.
