Dimapur, Jan. 10 (EMN): L Khumo, advisor for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, on Monday inaugurated the 5th Khiamniungan Sports Council (KSC) meet on the theme, ‘imagine life- beyond ordinary, driven by values’ at public ground, Noklak.
The advisor stated that sports should be taken up as a career and advised the youngsters to be eager to learn and be disciplined in every aspect while working harder to achieve success in life, a DIPR report informed.
He expressed his appreciation to the KSC for taking the initiative of organising the sport event and hoped that Noklak district will progress in sports.
Hiazu Meru, deputy commissioner, Noklak, in his speech emphasised on the advantages of sports and elaborated that sports improved discipline, honesty, team work, leadership and strategic planning. He encouraged all the sports persons to play well and excel in sports.
KSC also felicitated Chongsop P, Thongkoi Y, Thingpia P, Phaam T, Jeliam Khiam and Mongshai from various sports disciplines, who represented the district at various events.
District sports officer, Noklak, Rokokhotso Krose also spoke during the occasion. Welcome address was delivered by T Elo, president of KSC, while oath taking was administered by K Okie, vice president KSC.
The sports meet is being organised by the KSC in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
