3rd Aphuyemi Cup underway

Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN): The 3rd Aphuyemi Cup kicked off on Wednesday at Ghathashi town, with Nagashe Swu, SDO PWD (R&B) Dimapur division as the chief invitee.

The cup is being organised by Aphuyemi Football Club and will culminate on February 2, an update informed.

The chief Invitee encouraged all the teams to reconnect and spread friendship through this tournament.

In the first match, Defending Champion Pughoboto Town Club defeated D Boys Ghathashi by 1-0. In the second match, Centre Club Mukalimi defeated Mishilimi FC by 2-0. Meanwhile, United FC Chisholimi defeated Ashu Hebo Club by 1-0 in the third match.

The champion will receive INR. 50,000 with championship belt while the Runner-up will pocket INR. 30,000, second runner-up will take away INR. 15,000 and the fourth position holder will walk home with a cash prize of INR. 10,000.

There will be no entry fee for the participants of the championship however there will be a security deposit of INR. 1000 from each participants for observance of event by-laws informed the management and stated that the security deposit will be refunded after the event, provided there is no forfeiture for violation of by-laws.

Meanwhile, it informed that the slots for participation for Angami wrestlers have all been filled up while few slots for Chakhesang, Zeliang, Poumai and other Naga tribes are still open.
