2nd ‘People’s Festival’ begins at Chida

Phek, Dec. 2 (EMN): A 10-day 2nd ‘People’s Festival Khezhakeno 2019’ commenced on Monday at Chida Resort in Khezhakeno village in Phek district as part of the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.
A press release on Monday informed that the president of the Chakhesang Public Organisation Mikha Kenye expressed happiness for the festival saying that it should be managed together by the people in the days to come too.

The community leader lauded the village, Khezhakeno, in maintaining Chida Resort with its natural beauty, besides conserving the flora there. He said that the CPO will give all cooperation in safeguarding and protecting the Chida boundary, the updates stated.

Delivering the welcome address, the youth advisor of Khezhakeno Youth Organisation, Pfuche Koza, said the primary objective of the People’s Festival Khezhakeno is to promote people-to-people interaction and cultural exchange not only at home but with the world outside.

The festival is still in its nascent stage and is to be held annually from December 1 to the 10th every year, coinciding with the Hornbill Festival, he said.

Highlighting the various activities of the festival, he said there are boating, Go-Karting, Phekete, Tug of War, fire-making, bamboo pole climbing and angling besides ethnic food, among other attractions.
