29 Covid-19 cases in Nagaland, 1.68 lakh in India

Dimapur, Jan. 11 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 29 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 32, 331 and active caseload to 112.

The state’s cumulative recoveries increased to 30,424 with recuperation of 12 patients from Dimapur in the last 24 hours, while the death toll remained unchanged at 687 with no fresh fatalities.

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 24 cases were reported in Dimapur, two in Kohima and one each in Mon, Peren and Tuensang.

Of the 112 active cases in the state, 93 are asymptomatic, 17 mild, one moderate on oxygen and one severe on oxygen.

In terms of distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 81 cases, 14 in Tuensang, 12 in Kohima, three in Mokokchung and two in Peren, while the rest of the districts are currently Covid-free. 

India’s Omicron tally rises to 4461

India reported 1,68,063 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the tally to 3,58,75,790, which includes 4,461 cases of the Omicron variant, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll climbed to 4,84,213 with 277 fresh fatalities, while the active cases rose to 8,21,446, the highest in 208 days, it said.

Meanwhile, 69,959 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 3,45,70,131.

It stated that with the administration of over 92 lakh doses (92,07,700) in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 152.89 crore (1,52,89,70,294).
