267 new Covid-19 positive cases in Nagaland; 4.12 lakh in India

Nagaland recorded 267 new Covid-19 positive cases on Thursday, taking the state’s tally to 15271.

The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated that out of the 267 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, 130 were in Kohima, 117 in Dimapur, seven each in Mokokchung and Tuensang, two each in Phek and Zunheboto, and one each in Longleng and Mon.

He added that 38 patients – 21 in Dimapur, nine in Kohima, seven in Tuensang and one in Mon — recovered during the same period.

According to the Health and Family Welfare department update, the state currently has 2245 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 2037 are asymptomatic, 148 mild, 23 moderate on oxygen, 24 severe on oxygen, eight critical-ICU with oxygen and five critical-ICU on ventilator.

In regard to district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Dimapur has 1541 active cases, Kohima – 565, Mokokchung – 36, Mon – 31, Tuensang – 29, Longleng – 15, Zunheboto -9, Peren – 8, Wokha – 3, and four each in Kiphire and Phek. 

The state has also registered 12428 recoveries and 111 deaths, out of which 10 have been ruled “not Covid-related”.

India’s new case breach 4 lakh-mark

India’s total active caseload has been pushed to 35, 66, 398 with 4, 12, 262 new cases registered in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Ten states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan reported 72.19% of the new cases.

It informed that Maharashtra reported the highest number of daily new cases with 57,640 followed by Karnataka with 50,112 and Kerala with 41,953 new cases.

Meanwhile, it said that the national mortality rate has been falling and currently stands at 1.09%.

As many as 3,980 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours with ten states accounting for 75.55% of the new deaths.

The country has registered 2,10,77,410 Covid cases and 2,30,168 deaths till date.

As on day-110 of the vaccination drive (May 5), 19, 55, 733 vaccine doses were administered across the country.

It stated that 8, 99 163 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 10, 56, 570 beneficiaries received their second dose of the vaccine.

India’s cumulative recoveries stands at 1, 72, 80, 844 with 3, 29, 113 recoveries registered in the last 24 hours.
