24th Senior National Sepaktakraw C’ship

Stage is all set for the 24th Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship organized by Nagaland Sepaktakraw Association (NASTA) under the aegis of Sepaktakraw Federation of India and department of youth resources & sports, Nagaland.Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will declare the four-day national championship open at 10:00 am on Tuesday at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Briefing media-persons at venue of the event this evening, Secretary General STFI, Yogender Singh Dahiya said a total of 25 teams, representing 24 state units and one departmental team SSB would be participating in different categories of the competition.
He said till evening 12 states have reached while eight would be arriving by midnight and five others would join by Tuesday afternoon.
He said that the delay in train services to the cyclone has caused inconvenience to the five states.
Inviting the people of the state to witness matches and encourage the players at IG Stadium, he said spectators would be able to witness every second of the match the players almost perform like acrobats.
Meanwhile, he also informed that the STFI is working with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Resources for opening of a Centre of Excellence in Sepaktakraw in Kohima at the earliest as the Naga boys and girls have been performing at the national and international levels. NASTA Secretary and State Coach Holshe Khrieo said that all preparations have been set and the state is ready to host the championship.
