21st edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy in October

: Angami Students Union (ASU) on Wednesday announced that it will be organising the 21st Edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2021 on the theme “Goal for Peace” in October.

Thejalhoukho Thomas Khawakhrie, ASU secretary of Games and Sports, informed that the entry forms and bye-laws will be made available to the public within a week’s time.

He added that the due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it could not conduct the tournament last year, however informed the interested teams to be prepared for the month-long tournament that is being scheduled after a gap of one year in the state capital.

It may be mentioned that the trophy is organised in honour and in remembrance of the two comrades Late Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima village and Late Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema village who were victims of indiscriminate firing of the Armed Police from Alichen, when the student fraternity  on March 20, 1986, were on a peaceful duty call of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) to register Nagas’ resentment against the state government’s decision of extension of disturbed area belt from 5 km along the Indo-Myanmar border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadres into the state of Nagaland.

The ASU also informed that the existing guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government would be followed and all the teams have been asked to adhere to the same.
