Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): The first Kiphire district badminton tournament was conducted at the indoor badminton stadium, 14th NAP (IR BN), Kiphire on July 23. The tournament was organised by Kiphire District Badminton Association (KDBA).
The tournament was organised for men’s doubles and men’s singles categories, wherein, 20 doubles teams and 10 single players participated in the tournament.
It may be mentioned that the tournament was organised to improve the standard of the badminton game and to encourage young badminton enthusiasts in the district, an update stated.
The tournament was organised to select players to represent the district at the forthcoming inter-district and state open badminton championship to be held in Longleng from August 22 to the 27th.
KDBA expressed gratitude to 14th NAP (IR.BN) for allowing their stadium to be used and all the players who participated in the tournament.
In the men’s doubles, Khingkhamong and Sekiri emerged as the champions with Zali and James as the runners-up, while Zali and James won the first and second prizes respectively in singles.
