Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): 173 Bn CRPF Airfield Dimapur organised a volleyball tournament on March 14 and 15 as part of its civic action programme at battalion headquarters.
Altogether, eight teams from local youth organisations participated in the tournament.
An update stated that the final match was played between Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation and Phaipijang Village Youth and Student Organisation .
The former emerged as the overall champion after defeating the latter in a best-of-5 match.
Chonkhotinthang Singson of (PYSO) received the man of the match award and Chenithung of DNYO received best player of the tournament.
All the participating teams were given certificates, trophies and various sports items at the closing ceremony.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, chief guest Rothihu Tetseo Commissioner of Police Dimapur encouraged the youths to lead a good healthy life and contribute more to uplift the society in the field of education and sports.
He also highlighted the contribution made by the CRPF in establishing law and order situation and providing security in Nagaland besides the civic action programmes.
Vishnu Gautam, Commandant, 173 Bn CRPF Airfield Dimapur, thanked the chief guest and all the participating teams for their cooperation in the successful conduct of the tournament, it added.
