1,471 stranded Nagaland citizens opt to stay back

Testing: 873 samples test negative, results for 18 being awaited

Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): The Nagaland government administration has said that out of 18,255 citizens of the state who are stranded in different parts of the country and had registered to return to the state, 1,471 persons have voluntarily opted to stay back.

The office of the principal secretary for the Home department issued on Thursday a press release stating the routine Covid-19 related updates of the state.

The Home authority informed that out of 18,255 citizens of the state stranded in different parts of the country ‘who filled up the returnees’ declaration form up till 4:30 pm today, a total of 1,471 persons have voluntarily opted for staying back, and filled up the required form on the portal iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in for availing the one-time assistance for INR 10,000.’

Currently, the number of people of Nagaland who are stranded or are in distress outside the state due to the nationwide lockdown, and who have been provided with financial assistance in the form of cash grant has now risen to 24,261, the authorities stated. They comprise 18,829 working people, 5,214 students, and 218 patients.

Till date, a total of INR 9.53 crore has been disbursed for this purpose, the updates stated.

Negative

As at 4 pm on May 14, Thursday, a total of 891 samples have been sent for testing from Nagaland. The results of 873 samples have been received and they all have tested negative.

The results for the remaining 18 samples are being awaited, the department stated.

Additionally, a total of 20 samples have been tested by Truenat machine and all are negative, the press release stated.  

On Thursday, it added, a total of 7,228 persons have been screened and a total of 348 persons are in quarantine.

Inter-district movement

With regard to inter-district movement of stranded persons travelling to their home districts, a total of 16,527 passengers have been transported to their districts in the state, the department stated.

Regarding the arrival of stranded people of the state into Nagaland from other Northeast states, a total of 409 persons have already arrived, and 484 persons will be arriving ‘today,’ the authority stated on Thursday.

The Home administration added that in accordance with powers conferred by the Nagaland Epidemic Disease (Covid-19) Regulations of 2020, the chief medical officers of the districts have been designated as ‘authorized persons’ to issue movement orders or permits to patients for inter-state and intra-state referral.
