1350 vehicles penalised in Dimapur during May 13-31

Dimapur, June 4 (EMN):
Dimapur police penalised a total of 1350 vehicles between May 13 and the 31st for violating odd-even traffic rule that has implemented in view of the lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19.

This was updated by Dimapur police on its official Twitter account.

The additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime), Relo Aye, told this newspaper that no fixed amount of fine has been mentioned in the order issue by the authorities for violation of odd-even traffic rule but the police personnel can issue challan up to INR 500.

Aye said that most of the time, police impose fine between INR 100 and INR 300 on defaulters. He added that they had to let go violators, who don’t have money to pay fine, after a warning.

The police commissioner of Dimapur, Rothihu Tetso, had imposed odd-even system of vehicular movement after the commercial hub was declared a containment zone on May 5 before it was extended to May 31, and then to June 11.
