11 government school teachers suspended in Manipur

Imphal, Feb. 24 (EMN): Eleven more government school teachers have been placed under suspension in Manipur for not attending school. Orders have been issued in this regard by the Directorate of Education (S) today, according to a press release.
“Suspended teachers included nine from Lamlong Higher Secondary School and two from Khonghampat High School,” says the press release issued by DIPR Manipur adding, “Nine teachers of Lamlong Higher Secondary School were found absent when a surprise visit was conducted at the school by a ministerial team on February 23, 2021.”
In continuation of the routine visits and inspection of schools, the state education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh today paid a surprise visit at Khongampat Government High School, Heibongpokpi Government High School and Khurkhul High School.
While checking the attendance register of the teachers during the minister’s visit at Khongampat Government High School, two teachers were found absent without any authorisation. Rajen also inspected the infrastructures of those schools, the release said. He also stated that the surprise visit would continue and try to cover the remaining districts also.
Rajen also appealed to all school staff to be dutiful and sincere to their service at this juncture since Board and Council examinations drawing near. He urged the teachers to work in the interest of the student community of the state.
On Tuesday, eight government school teachers were suspended for not attending school following Rajen’s inspection visit. All the eight teachers are from Lamdeng Government High School under Lamsang Assembly Constituency.
