‘The Wishess’ from Manipur wins first NE multimedia music competition

  The Wishess from Manipur has won the title of the Northeast Multimedia Music Competition during the first Northeast multimedia campaign that was held with the theme ‘North East United against HIV/AIDS,’ at the Kohima local ground on Feb. 18. The band walked home with cash prize INR 1 lakh, sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation India, Delhi. The first runner-up was Luli Yeptho & The Band from Nagaland. They won a cash prize of INR 70,000. The Roll Heads from Sikkim won the second runner-up prize, to take home with INR 50,000. Altogether eight bands from the eight NE states participated in the competition. A consolation prize of INR 30,000 was given to other five participating bands namely The Megh from Arunachal Pradesh; Vanghmun 100 Years from Tripura; Wreckless Shadow from Meghalaya; Jerry Lalrinawma from Mizoram; and Tyrrhenian from Assam. The prizes were given away by the principal secretary for Health and Family Welfare, I Himato Zhimomi; Deputy Director Director General of Naco, Dr. Naresh Goel; and country programme director of the AHF India, Dr. V Sam Prasad.
