Peren lifts Nagaland open TT championship

Oct. 19.[/caption] Kohima, Oct. 19 (EMN): Peren district lifted the team championship of the 23rd Inter-district-cum-Nagaland Open Table Tennis Championship organised by the Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA) and hosted by Kohima District Table Tennis Association at the Indoor TT Stadium, in Kohima on Fri. Oct. 19. In men's single category, Dijanglung Kamson beat Kevichatuo Liezietsu to take the title. While in the women's single match, Ruokuolhonuo Rame and C. Denli Konyak emerged as the runners-up. Meyinukshi Longkumer won the youth single title with Aochuba Jamir as the runners-up. The three-day event which commenced on Oct. 17 concluded on Oct. 19 with principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima, Keyiekhru Rhiitso attending the valedictory function as the special guest. In his address, Keyiekhru Rhiitso maintained that lack of infrastructural facilities should not be an excuse for not excelling in any professional career.  In order to excel, one needs to have a willing heart, right attitude and sheer will power and determination he said. He also said that Nagaland table tennis needs stars in order to popularise the game among the younger generation and also the people because it is only through popularity that the commercial aspect would indulge thereby helping in developing the individual sporting. Rhiitso also gave away the prizes to the winners.
