Dimapur, July 2: The Naga Public Organization (NPO) Myanmar has been declared as a mandated civil body for the welfare of the Myanmar Nagas.
This account was expressed by NPO Chairman Harti Yangli who made his presence felt at the 22nd executive session of Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Dimapur (ENPUD) on Saturday at Hotel Saramati Dimapur.
Yangli said that the Naga Yuya of Myanmar which is a literature and cultural group is limited to only literature and culture of Myanmar Naga and that, they cannot cover entire issues of Myanmar Naga independently as Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) in Nagaland.
Making this statement, Yangli with the help of a translator said that NPO is not a political party but a civil body to pursue the rights of the ethnic group.
ENPO President S.Khoiwang Konyak in his speech sent out a strong message to ban the illegal outfit Sovereign Republic of Freeland (SRF) in all eastern areas. Pointing out the event when the SRF had submitted memorandum to the Prime Minister Office for a Union Territory for the Eastern People of Freeland last year, Khoiwang called on the eastern districts to ban the illegal outfit and control the spread of such outfits. “It is time to settle the issue of SRF and the existence of such outfit should be controlled,” reiterated Khoiwang. On the day a new team of ENPUD office bearers were elected with a prayer by KBC Dimapur Pastor M.Pusham.
