Mount Sinai, Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS in last eight

Kohima, June 30 (EMN): Mount Sinai Higher Secondary School (HSS) and Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School won their respective matches in the second round and entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing 1st Kohima District Inter-School Football tournament, jointly organised by Kohima Royal Club and School Education department at Kohima local ground on Friday.
In the first match, Mt. Sinai HSS overpowered North Field by 2-0 and entered the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Earlier North Field had defeated Vinyiizo School by 1-0 goal in the first round but Mt. Sinai proved to be too strong as they suffered a defeat.
In the match, Mt. Sinai took the lead through Toshi in the 15th minute and Kungau added the second in the 38th minute of the first half.
North Field players not willing to give up gave their best but failed to breach the defence as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Mt. Sinai. Mt. Sinai will now face the winner of Saturday’s match between Bethel HSS and Charity School in the quarters on July 5. In the second match, Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS edged passed Model HSS by 3-1. MHB HSS took the lead when Vikedosie scored a goal through a stunning long-range free kick in the 14th minute and Gideon added the second goal in the first half injury added time.
After the lemon break, Jimuhie completed the treble for Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS in the 52nd minute.
With 10 minutes remaining Pravin managed to pull one back for Model but that wasn’t enough for the team as they scrambled to a defeat.
Ministers’ Hill students who came in numbers to witness the match had something to celebrate at the end of the match with the win.
Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS will now face the winner of Saturday’s match (Stella HSS vs TM Government HSS) in the quarterfinals of the tournament on July 6.
