More than 56,000 beneficiaries received Ayushman Bharat cards in Manipur

Imphal, March 2 (EMN): Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayentakumar on Friday, March 1 told the assembly that 56,728 beneficiaries have applied and received Ayushman Bharat Yojana cards and 1,107 beneficiaries have undergone treatment so far in the state under the scheme.
Jayentakuma disclosed that out of INR 7.97 crore sanctioned under Ayushman Bharat Yojana (2018-19), a sum of INR 2.58 crore has been utilised.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is national health scheme launched in 2018 which aims to provide an annual health cover of INR 5 lakh per family annually.
The minister also informed the house that altogether 8,359 families claimed the benefits of chief minister “gi hakshelgi tengbag” (chief minister’s health assistance, CMHT) in the state.
Earlier, a total of 1,09,567 families identified from the socio-economic caste census were enrolled as beneficiaries under the CMHT which had bagged the award for country’s best implemented public health programme last year.
So far, he said 6, 0671 families identified from the socio-economic caste census were enrolled as beneficiaries.
A sum of INR 10 crore was allocated in 2017-18 for the scheme and INR 20 crore for 2018-19.
The CMHT was initiated through a state cabinet decision taken on October 11, 2017 and it was formally launched by chief minister N Biren Singh during last year’s statehood day function on January 21.
