Imphal, March 11 (EMN): Manipur is set to host the first edition of ‘Kumnou,’ a new event which aims to bring together diverse talent from the world of music, food and art to celebrate the arrival of spring on March 22 at Hapta Kanjeibung in Imphal.
The event which is scheduled to be held on the second day of ‘Yaoshang,’ Manipuri version of holi festival will be organised by the Giving Tree in association with Spirit Adventure.
Kumnou which literally means ‘New Year’ in Meiteilon, the official language of the state of Manipur, will be an annual event welcoming spring while also receiving the constant changes happening around the world in a positive light.
Renounced artists such as Soulmate, one of the best blues rock band from Shillong; Kutumba (Instrumental folk band from Nepal) MC Kaur, Pulpy Shilpy and various local artists will be performing during the event.
The festival will also see graffiti wall art and art installation representing the celebration of spring at the event.
“Kumnou as the name suggest will be a true celebration of the springtime and the awaking performance of the nature as well as the demonstration of the coming together of deep rooted tradition and modern culture,” founder of Laihui Ensemble Oja Mangangsana Mayanglambam said.
Founder of the Giving Tree, Bobby Laishram said the event will be a representation of the new Manipur where people from across the world will get to experience and connect with each other breaking all the barriers that has been there.
“The festival will be showcasing the beauty of Manipur during the best season and sharing an experience of the transformed and renewed Manipur,” he said.
