Manipur civil orgs. demand immediate release of arrested trekkers by Nagaland police
Imphal, Nov. 30 (EMN): Manipur based civil society organisations demanded immediate release of the arrested trekkers from Manipur. Eight members of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) were arrested by Nagaland Police few days back in connection with the report of a wild fire incident at Dzukou valley.
United Committee Manipur has demanded immediate release of the trekkers without any condition to continue the good relation of the two neighbouring states.
A statement from the committee’s secretary urged both the state authorities to take up necessary initiatives to clear the confusion at the earliest.
Also, the Communist Party of India of Manipur State Council demanded government of Nagaland to release the trekkers without any conditions.
“The trekkers including female members were among team trekkers of MMTA that went to visit Dzukou valley as a part of the Manipur Sangai Festival’s adventure tourism,” it stated.
It was reported that Manipur Public Health Engineering Minister Losii Dikho has been deputed to talk with the government of Nagaland and ensure the release of the eight trekkers.
