Manipur CEO holds meeting with electoral officers

Our Correspondent Imphal, March 12 (EMN): Manipur Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) PK Singh visited Kangkpokpi district Headquarters about 45 km north of Imphal on Monday to examine the ongoing preparation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. CEO holds a meeting with District Election Officer (DEO) Lalithambigai K, Assistant Returning Officers (ARO), district nodal officers and police officials and others at the DC conference hall. During the meeting, CEO reviewed the preparation of the electoral process and the grievances of the officers. He advised them to immediately report if any problem arises He also highlighted the important aspects of Model Code of Conduct and asked the concerned officials not to violate. Earlier, a meeting with different political parties was chaired by DEO Lalithambigai K at the same venue and briefed about various modalities of the forthcoming election. Nodal officer for Model Code of Conduct Samuel briefed about the MCC to the representatives of political parties. Also, nodal officer for Training Kangpokpi Imosana Sorokhaibam and Election Officer Kangpokpi Chungsat Khongai gave hands on training to the sector officers and sector magistrates during the third phase training which was held on the same day and venue. To ensure peaceful conduct of the elections, the district magistrate of Thoubal, Haobam Rosita issued prohibitive order under Sub-Section 2 of Section 144 Cr PC in Thoubal district. Prohibition has been issued against assembly of five or more persons, carrying of sticks, stones, licensed arms, firearms, weapons and other explosive materials including fire crackers with effect from 6 pm on March 11. However, the orders shall not be applicable to law enforcing authorities and the maintenance of essential services.
