Joey Woch is all set to compete at the 2010 Guitar Foundation of America International convention and competition at Texas, USA, from June 22 to 27.
GFA competition is the most prestigious guitar competitions in the world, where artists from all over the world come to compete.
Joey is certainly one of today’s finest guitarists in India. He is a guitarist of remarkable versatility and artistic interests, and is a master of both Classical and Electric guitar.
His fascination for guitar started at a very tender age, and it’s been no turning back since then. His childhood was no ordinary: while kids of his age were running around outdoors, he was mostly indoors with his guitar. Rehearsals, performing with bands, and accompanying artists was a usual order of his formative years.
His first teacher in classical guitar was Ren Merry at Patkai Christian College, who enthused in him not only a higher proficiency, but also a realization of a greater purpose of Music. He later studied under Guitar masters Jose Valdez, and Butch Roxas in the Philippines.
The Department of Music, Patkai Christian College gladly acknowledges that, one of its alumni would place Nagaland in the international map of guitar greats. Participation in this competition itself is a landmark achievement, which will widen the prospects for Naga Guitar enthusiasts in the international arena.
On a personal note to all Music lovers, it said Joey will need a new guitar of high quality for the competition, which will cost at least Rs. 90,000 ($2000). Therefore it solicits support from all to come forward generously, and support this outstanding young man. For details one may contact the Department of Music, PCC at: +91-9612314970
