Mokokchung, July 2: Incessant rain of the past few days has triggered landslides in many pockets of Mokokchung. On the night of July 1, a downpour set off a huge landslide at Chuchuyimpang village blocking two major approach roads opposite Fazl Ali College.
Reports said that villagers had noticed the possibility of landslides in the area since inclement weather began. Mokokchung’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Sachin Jaiswal, inspected the landslide-hit area today.
Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force led by Mokokchung District Disaster Management Authority officer T Wangshi Jamir were seen working round the clock to prevent further landslide in the area.
