Excise personnel seize cache of liquor from dumper

EMN Dimapur, March 19 Enforcement personnel of the Excise department have seized a consignment of liquor from a dumper in Chumukedima on March 16. The authorities issued a press release on March 19 informing about the case. On March 16, a dumper full of liquor was stopped by personnel of the Excise department on duty at the Chumukedima check gate. The personnel arrested one Ato Chakhesang, a resident of Kohima town, the press release stated. The consignment of liquor consisted of 5, 544 bottles of assorted liquors, the authorities stated. They were said to have been concealed underneath a layer of bricks. ‘Given the acute shortage of manpower in the department coupled with the huge amount of traffic, round the frisking at check gates become impossible. However, such detection and seizure by duty party led by Toshiho Yeptho IE is highly commendable,’ the department stated in its press release.
