Eastern army commander calls on Manipur governor, chief minister

[caption id="attachment_229423" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General MM Naravane and officers interacting with Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla in Imphal on Tuesday.[/caption] Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): The Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General MM Naravane who arrived in Imphal for a three-day visit to review the security situation in Manipur and along the Indo-Myanmar border, called on Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh on Tuesday. Naravane met the governor at Raj Bhavan and apprised the activities being taken by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in coordination with other agencies towards maintenance of peace and security in the state, a statement from PRO said. “The governor lauded the efforts of the forces and complimented them for carrying out people friendly operations,” it stated. Later in the day, the commander also interacted with the chief minister and discussed the security situation in Manipur. “He was briefed on the overall security situation in Manipur by the concerned officers, expressed his satisfaction on the operational preparedness of the field formations and complemented the troops for ensuring peace and tranquillity in the state,” PRO said. The Army Commander will also review the progress of various infrastructure projects being undertaken by Army and Assam Rifles units.
