ANPSA Dimapur condemns arson in Manipur
Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): Dimapur unit of the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) has strongly condemned the dastardly act of arson on St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School in Sugnu Gunpi area of Kakching district, Manipur, on April 25 perpetrated by some nefarious elements.
ANPSA Dimapur unit, in a press release issued by its president Dr. Andrew Ahoto, extended solidarity with the school management, staff, students and parents of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Sugnu, in their hour of crisis. It also requested the local authorities including the police to speed up the investigation process and book the perpetrators of the despicable crime at the earliest and award stringent punishment as per the law.
“This sort of uncivilised act has no place in a sane and credible society especially a crime of this kind against a school, which acts as a temple of learning, has greatly shocked and saddened all and sundry,” Ahoto stated adding such acts need to be abhorred by all sections of society irrespective of any state or region.
He stated that a sanctified place of learning like a school must be respected at all cost and reminded young people especially the students to bear in mind that damaging a school or its reputation is akin to damaging the prospects of a bright future for the upcoming generations.
He was of the view that any misunderstanding must be handled with a matured perspective and resolved peacefully rather that resort to such hate and violence.
