Dimapur, May 24: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has informed that the Aadhaar card would be required to draw central sector scholarship from 2016. The chairman of the NBSE, Asano Sekhose, issued a notification on Tuesday listing out the riders for the scholarship.
“Aadhaar has been made mandatory for disbursement of all scholarships with effect from this financial year (2016-2017) onwards. Therefore, separate Bank Account in the name of the beneficiary is to be opened and the same need to be seeded with the Aadhaar number to enable direct transfer of scholarship to the bank account of each beneficiary,” the notification stated.
The Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for college and university students is under the department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. It has been included in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program of the Government of India, the NBSE stated. The scholarships are disbursed directly into bank accounts of the beneficiaries from the 1st of January 2013 based on ‘eligibility lists furnished/uploaded by the State Education Boards.’
For online submission of applications for fresh and renewal of scholarship, a mechanism of National e-Scholarship (NeS) portal (scholarships.gov.in) has been developed. Fresh scholarships awarded during the financial year 2015-2016 were processed and disbursed through NeS portal, the NBSE stated.
