57th Teachers’ Day celebration from across the state

Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): Along with the rest of the country, Various districts and sub-division across Nagaland celebrated the 57th Teachers Day on Sep. 5. The day was marked by the students of various schools to honour the teachers for their contribution in the society as well as to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
MGM College
The MGM College celebrated Teachers’ day at its college premises in Dimapur on Sept. 5.
An update from the school informed that the event was conducted under the initiative of Arts Club. Students of 1st and 3rd semesters organised varieties of programme to commemorate the day. Speeches were given by the principals, teachers, and the students.

In another session, MGM Higher Secondary School celebrated the event with variety of cultural items by the students of nursery to higher secondary classes.
Gifts were distributed to all the faculty members by students and from St. Thomas Mission Society.
Dimapur Mission Hr. Sec. School

The Dimapur Mission Higher Secondary School celebrated its annual Teachers’ Day along with the rest of the nation at Town Fellowship, Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo in Dimapur.

A press release from the school informed that the programme started with an invocation and a speech by the school leader, Kihoto. One of the board members, Dr. Jamedi Longkumer, overtook the presentation to the staff and ‘teacher of the year award,’ which was received by assistant teacher, Lolenmongla Longchar. He also delivered an exhortation to the students and the teachers by portraying the examples of deeds and achievements made by Dr. Radhakrishnan’s as a teacher.

NIIT, Dimapur Centre
NIITians of Dimapur Center organised teachers’ day celebrations on Wed. as a mark of respect towards their faculties.
A press release received here informed that the Director of NIIT Dimapur, Ajay Sethi, while speaking at the programme, thanked all the faculty members for their continued sacrifices for the betterment of the students’ community as a whole.

The release also informed that the Tech mentor, Lungdsuo Mozhui was adjudged the king while Marion Rongmei became the queen through a lucky draw.
Kekhrieneinuo and friends presented a song while Nancy Shukla spoke on behalf of the NIITians. Vishal Singh Bardewa, NIC faculty, shared his views on life’s possibilities through five stories, the release stated.

Tuensang
Tuensang district celebrated the Teachers’ Day event inside the Govt. Hr. Sec. School Auditorium with Rev. Achu Chang of Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen as resource person. An update from DIPR informed about the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Chang congratulated the district teachers’ awardees for their commitment to the students. He said that teachers should be a visionary to change the perspective of societies and teachers must be updated.

“Teachers must lead the students in such a way that they must become someone in life,” said Chang. He then quoted Ivan Welton Fitzwater’s words, “Future of the world is in my classroom today.”

Earlier in the programme, an invocation prayer was pronounced by the pastor Tenyimi Baptist Church Tuensang, Sentilo Seb.

Zunheboto
Zunheboto district celebrated the 57th Teachers’ Day at its Town Hall.
An update from DIPR informed that 15 teachers were awarded with district teachers’ award. Speeches on behalf of students were given by Cornerstone Hr. Sec. School and Sovishe Memorial Government High School Zunheboto.

Pughoboto sub- division
Joining with the rest of the country, Pughoboto sub-division celebrated the 57th Teachers’ Day along with its additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Phuleshe K Yepthomi, at Pughoboto Town Hall.

A report from the DIPR informed that Yepthomi, during his speech, said ‘teachers are the builders of the nation.’ He requested the teachers to take more responsibility to mould and shape the students for a better future generation.
He urged the teachers to be sincere and to show the right path for the students. The ADC asked the students to listen to their teachers and honour them. IHonouring the teachers, a student from Government High School Pughoboto, Toli H, read out the salutation to the teachers. Mission School Pughoboto students displayed choreography and New Foundation School presented a special song, the report added.
